Terms of Use
What the service does, what it does not warrant, and what the user answers for.
1. What the service does
The service takes a list of films — loaded as a file, read from a public profile, or received from a connected service — and picks from it at random, keeping the watched marks so a pick is not repeated. It stores no video and grants no access to watching anything.
2. No affiliation
The service is independent of the film sites and tracking services whose lists it reads. It does not act on their behalf, is not endorsed by them and is not operated by them. Their names and trade marks belong to their proprietors and are used only so far as naming compatibility requires. Posters and descriptions come from open film databases and belong to their rights holders.
3. The code is the key
Whoever holds the code of a pool opens that pool, so keeping the code is the user’s own affair; it cannot be recovered, and a pool whose code is lost cannot be opened by anyone, the service included. A list read from a public profile is read at the address the user gives, and responsibility for naming a profile belonging to somebody else rests with the person who named it.
4. How the service may be used
The service is meant for choosing a film from one’s own list. Not permitted are mass automated requests, circumventing the limits on how often a list may be loaded, reselling access, and collecting the data of the service in order to fill another one. Where such use is detected, access may be refused.
5. No warranty
The service is provided free of charge and as it is. How completely a list is recognised, and how accurate the artwork, the year and the genres are, depends on the open databases the titles are matched against, and neither is warranted. Availability is not warranted either, and the service may be discontinued.
6. Limitation of liability
The service does not answer for what a watched mark sent to a connected service does there, including data changed or lost in it, nor for a pool lost with its code. Liability for harm caused intentionally or by gross negligence, and liability that the law does not allow to be excluded, remain unaffected.
7. Changes to these terms
The terms may change, and the version in force is the one published on this page at the time the service is used. Continuing to use the service after a change means the new version is accepted; a user who does not accept it may delete the pool, or the account with its pools, and stop.
